Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 14, 2026. This policy describes how Plaqrd collects, uses, and protects information when you use our platform and digital guide products.
Overview
Plaqrd, LLC ("Plaqrd," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit plaqrd.io, use any Plaqrd digital guide (a "Placard"), or otherwise interact with our platform and services (collectively, the "Service").
Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service. We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by providing additional notice through the Service or via email.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three primary ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information from third parties.
Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account, subscribe to the Service, or contact us for support, you may provide us with your name, email address, business name, billing information, and other details necessary to deliver the Service. Clients who create Placards also provide property information, Wi-Fi credentials, local recommendations, and other guide content.
Information Collected Automatically
When you access the Service, including when a guest scans a Placard QR code, we automatically collect certain technical information. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring URL, pages visited, time spent on pages, and the date and time of your visit. This information is collected through standard server logs, cookies, and similar tracking technologies.
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party services you use in connection with our platform, such as OAuth authentication providers, payment processors, and analytics partners. We handle all such information in accordance with this policy.
How We Use Your Information
Plaqrd uses the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service Delivery
- To create and manage your account, process payments, and provide the Placard digital guide experience to your guests.
- Personalization
- To tailor content and features of the Service to your preferences and usage patterns.
- Analytics
- To understand how the Service is used, measure the performance of Placards, and improve our platform.
- Communications
- To send you transactional emails, service updates, security alerts, and, where you have opted in, marketing communications.
- Legal Compliance

- Safety and Security
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, abuse, and other harmful conduct.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use guest scan data to build advertising profiles or serve targeted advertisements.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Plaqrd uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and session tokens) to operate the Service, maintain your authenticated session, remember your preferences, and collect analytics data. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser.
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly Necessary
- Required for the Service to function. These cannot be disabled without breaking core features such as login and session management.
- Analytics
- Help us understand how visitors interact with the Service. We use aggregated, anonymized data only.
- Preference
- Remember your settings and choices to provide a more personalized experience.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will impair your ability to use the Service. Our platform does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, but we do not engage in cross-site behavioral tracking.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We share information with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Service, such as cloud hosting providers, payment processors, email delivery services, and analytics platforms. These vendors are contractually obligated to use your information only as directed by Plaqrd.
- Business Transfers: If Plaqrd is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Plaqrd, our users, or the public.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or complying with tax obligations).
Aggregated, anonymized analytics data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely to improve the Service.
Data Security
Plaqrd implements industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), secure cloud infrastructure, access controls, and regular security reviews.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of any security vulnerability or breach related to the Service, please contact us immediately at privacy@plaqrd.io.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; the right to restrict or object to certain processing; and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@plaqrd.io.
You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any such email or by contacting us directly. Even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional and service-related messages.
If you are a resident of California, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Plaqrd does not sell personal information. To submit a CCPA request, contact us at the email address above.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@plaqrd.io.
Third-Party Links and Services
Placards and other parts of the Service may contain links to third-party websites, maps, event calendars, and other external resources. Plaqrd is not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the Service.
When you tap a location link within a Placard, you may be directed to a third-party mapping application (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps). Your use of those applications is governed by their respective privacy policies.
International Users
Plaqrd is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer and processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
